The Doctoral Thesis Award is aimed at Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking universities. Special valuation for adequate protection, exploitation and successful transfer to the market.
Convening body: MADRID POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY CHAIR – CLARKE, MODET & Co
Description Object of the prize: 2nd Call for the “Doctoral Thesis Award” of the UPM-Clarke Chair, Modet & Co. The aim is to reward lines of research that have been reflected in a Doctoral Thesis but which, beyond its technical character or not, stand out for the proper management in:
- Its protection through the different existing figures such as patents, designs, copyright, industrial secrets,…
- Its exploitation and successful transfer to the market through the creation of spin-offs, licenses,..
Requirements: The Doctoral thesis must meet the following conditions: They have been read and defended, during the period 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2013, in the different Universities of Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, both public and private.
Date to submit proposals:1 March 2014 to 30 April 2014.
Resolution period: 2 months after the closing of the submission of the work
Documentation required: Once the filing period has closed, the finalist titles to which additional information may be requested such as the copy of the Doctoral Thesis or copy of the certificate showing the date of reading the Thesis and the qualification obtained, all documents will be requested in digitized format.
Selection procedure: Once the deadline for submission is closed, the finalist titles will be selected by May 31, 2014, informing all participants by email of the result whether or not they are selected. The finalist theses will be submitted to a jury that will select the winning thesis by June 31, 2014.
Prize: The prize will consist of:
- a cash prize of 2,000 euros
- work in kind equivalent to 2,000 euros of work in Industrial and Intellectual Property services and assistance in the promotion and dissemination of development.”
